Preface to 3rd Edition
This third edition is evidence of the immense success of the previous
two editions. The Anesthesia Drugs Handbook has been translated into
six languages.. Information on all drugs has been updated where applicable
including information on drug storage, current manufacturer and FDA
warnings and guidelines. Expanded dosing information has been provided
on many of the drugs including the muscle relaxants, narcotics and local
anesthetics. New drugs have been added including aprotinin, cisatracurium,
dolasetron, diltiazem, enoxaparin, fenoldopam, naltrexone, nicardipine,
nimodipine, remifentanil and ropivacaine. Readers who wish to obtain
more information on drugs for chronic pain may consult Sota Omoigui's
Pain Drug Handbook (Blackwell Science). Finally, I wish to welcome Dr.
Samson Otuwa who joins our team of consulting editors.
